Neverland was an exciting transatlantic collaboration.
From NYC where our Artistic director Shani Karni Aduculesi lives, to Columbia, NC where our Company assistant Shannon Chapman - Watson resides, and all the way to the Canary Islands which is the home of our talented collaborator Dr. Tumi Johnson.

NEVERLAND was created in collaboration with dancer and poet Dr. Tumi Johnson, who danced, performed, and inspired, many of Roza dance company's past works.
Dr. Johnson wrote and recorded an original poem for this piece. Her beautiful words and voice are the soundtrack of NEVERLAND.
Dr. Tumi Johnson is a dancer, poet, an Integrative Holistic medical doctor, and the author of Delicious Healing.
Tumi uses her dance performance, poetry, and her medical training and expertise, often in integrated ways, to help people uncover and nurture their optimal desired well-being
As a physician, Tumi is board certified in Internal Medicine and is also a diplomat of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine; she was made Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU in 2011.
She graduated from Vanderbilt University Medical School, receiving the honor of her school’s Kaufman Prize in Medicine for “humaneness and unselfish service in medicine. ” She completed her medical residency at NYU with a focus in Internal Medicine/Primary Care, receiving special training in psychosocial health care at that time.
Since then, she has worked in many clinical settings. A graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, she also has expertise in nutrition with past experience running a weight management clinic in New York and serving in West Africa with Doctors without Borders to oversee nutrition clinics. She has also done medical volunteer work in the Amazon, Haiti, and Kenya, among other places.
As a poet and healing dancer, Tumi creates and performs her poemdances around the world. These dances are crafted from Tumi’s own poetry and performed by her with the intention of supporting the healing processes of whoever watches/witnesses the movement. She has performed these dances in several venues in NYC including Dixon Place, Judson Church, in L.A. (at REDCAT) and outside the U.S. in France, Haiti, Croatia, and Thailand, among other places. Films of her poemdances have been shown as part of film and dance festivals including NYC's Performance Mix Festival, North Dance Film Festival and at Seattle Transmedia Independent Film Festival, where in 2018, her poemdance, It Happened, was awarded.
As her career progresses, Tumi is increasingly blending her dance performance, poetry and medical expertise, in creative ways to more potently potentiate true healing in individuals, organizations and communities.
